Zoe + Josh | Waipu Wedding

I searched for MONTHS for a dress and didn’t find anything even close. I knew exactly what I didn’t want, but didn’t know what I did want. With only 4 months until the wedding, my maid of honor who had had a Kenny and Harlow dress herself told me to go to see Meg. First appointment Meg put me in a whole bunch of all her sample dresses so we could start to figure out what shapes suited me most and by the end of that appointment we had managed to come up with my dream dress that was able to be altered to be worn three different ways – ceremony, reception and dance floor! It was all such a great experience and I am still obsessed with the dress! Zoe

Our Story

We met 2008 New Year’s Eve at Rhythm n Vines which doesn’t sound very romantic but longer story – I had seen Josh earlier in the night and felt such a good vibe from him, I could tell he had a kind soul. I then lost the group of friends that Josh was with for the rest of the night, and then at 2 in the morning I decided it was time to go home and just as I was leaving I bumped into Josh again in a crowd of 1000’s of people. Meant to be I reckon.

Favourite part of the day?

This is hard, every part was so special for different reasons! I loved spending the morning quietly with my bridesmaids and family getting ready. I loved getting to hear Josh’s vows and for him to hear my vows during the ceremony. I loved getting away with our bridesmaids and groomsmen, our best friends, to go have our photos taken – Bayly & Moore made this so much fun and relaxed! I loved finally sitting down to eat the insanely delicious menu I had spent time coming up with with our amazing caterers No Biggie. But I really, really loved getting on to the dance floor and dancing the night away with all our favourite people.

Anything wonderfully unexpected you would like to share about the day?

The forecast had said there was meant to be an easterly which is what we thought we wanted but last minute, just before I was about to walk down the aisle, the wind changed to a westerly which ended up being perfect as it made my dress billow behind me as I walked and created quite a dramatic moment and really showed how amazing the dress was.

Any advice for future brides?

If you are not using a wedding planner, take all the help offered to you from friends and family and try to source as much as possible from one supplier to help with logistics!

Also, I really enjoyed having a very casual “day after” event so that I didn’t feel like I had to get around and talk to everyone on the actual day
