Holleigh shares her dress journey with us, plus all the details of her glamourous Hawkes Bay wedding.

Their Story
Can you tell us about your dress journey?
I was never that girl who had a dream dress in mind. I knew what I liked though, so shared that with Megan and we ended up with something pretty special. I wanted classic, sleek, glamourous, timeless and slightly edgy. It ended up being something I hadn’t really seen before and I’m so happy with the end result.

What was your source of inspiration (for your dress)?
I scrolled on Instagram for days looking at dresses and I bought pieces of different dresses into one for mine. The lace edging detail came from somewhere, the off the shoulder slinky inspiration came from somewhere else and the ruching was from Kenny and Harlow.

Can you share your engagement story?
We planned to go down south to do the Abel Tasman walk with close couple friends over the Easter break. The first night camping was good and Dylan and I got up the next morning for the sunrise, which was stunning! The perfect time to propose haha, but he didn’t. The next night we got to the second campsite and pitched our tents, had a swim and got changed. The other couple went to get water so Dylan tried to pull me aside on the beach to propose. It was short, sweet and raw. There was no phone reception so we could soak in what had just happened with some of our dearest friends.

Where did you get married / what was special about your venue?
We got married at Wallingford Homestead. It’s not far from home for us and has luxury accommodation and its own restaurant. The couple that run it are amazing! One is the chef and the other the manager and the food and service is impeccable. Not to mention the grounds and homestead itself are amazing and have so much character!

What was your favourite part of the day?
How to pick a favourite part? Haha I loved the whole thing! I was incredibly nervous during the ceremony but that soon wore off and excitement levels were high!

If you could give other brides-to-be one piece of advice, it would be…
Take your time choosing everything you want, don’t rush into anything. And relax on the day and take it all in!
