Bianca + Russ | Queenstown wedding

Bianca shares her journey with Kenny and Harlow to create her ideal simple, beautiful dress, and gives us a glimpse into her incredible Queenstown wedding.

Their Story

Can you tell us about your dress journey?

It was really easy – I did a bit of online research and could tell that Meg’s simple and beautiful dresses were exactly the style I was looking for so booked in a try-on. There were so many stunning options which can all be custom made to suit. Meg was amazing and I felt completely confident with her advice and suggestions right from the get-go.

What was your source of inspiration (for your dress)?

My main criteria was something simple and comfortable to dance in!

Can you share your engagement story?

It was my birthday and we had both taken the day off work to spend the day together. My husband Russ had organised a walk out at Muriwai beach and proposed on the clifftop there. We had pre-arranged a birthday BBQ with both of our families and a couple of close friends that night so were able to surprise them all with the news that evening!

Where did you get married / what was special about your venue?

We got married at The Winehouse in Queenstown. We loved the idea of a destination wedding so that all our guests would be on holiday mode. The Winehouse is the most stunning venue with beautiful gardens and an incredible backdrop, we barely needed to worry about any decor! I couldn’t recommend it enough, the people who run it are also amazing and made it so, so easy to plan a wedding from afar.

What was your favourite part of the day?

I have two – we arranged a helicopter flight with just us and our photographer and videographer up The Remarkables for our couple photos. It was so nice to have that bit of time just us together. We also surprised our friends and family at the end of my husband’s speech that we were 7 weeks pregnant which was pretty special!

If you could give other brides-to-be one piece of advice, it would be…

Make sure you take some time just to take everything in – it’s so special to be surrounded by all your favourite people.

If you could give other brides-to-be one piece of advice, it would be…

I was told this by many people but it was the best piece of advice – the day goes soo quickly, so take moments throughout the day to really absorb it all and be present. Take time just your husband and you to take it all in, because otherwise it’ll be over before you know it and it’ll all feel like a whirlwind!
