Tell us about your dress journey:
It was one of my favourite parts to the planning process. I visited a few boutiques and designers in Auckland and Wellington until I came across Kenny & Harlow. After finding aspects of dresses I loved but not ‘the one’, Kenny & Harlow came along and absolutely nailed the design. The bias cut with the low back and tie detail is my dream dress and I wish I could wear it over and over again. Meg and the team were amazing to work with!
What or who was your source of inspiration?
I have always had a love for sleek and slender bias cut low back dresses and have always had a love for Miss Crabb. The tie features at the back were something I had discovered in my dress hunt journey that I loved and I was glad K&H were able to incorporate that in to my design.
Can you share your engagement story?
It happened on Christmas Day 2018, we were about to do a road trip around the South Island so said to each other our present would be an experience while we were down there. But as the day got closer we decided to buy each other a $50 present that we could unwrap on the day. When I got mine I saw the Naveya & Sloane box – all I thought was ‘that is a lot more than $50’, then I opened it – followed by the words ‘are you serious?!’ over and over. Sam couldn’t speak, he just nodded. It was an amazing and surreal moment with all my closest family around.
Favourite part of the day?
It’s so hard to choose as it was honestly the best day ever, although I have to say our first look. Sam & I met each other up Te Mata peak before our ceremony. It was so special to have that time to ourselves before the day flew by.
If you could give other brides-to-be one piece of advice?
Don’t sweat the small stuff, enjoy the planning process and most of all, enjoy the day. It goes so fast that once it’s done you wish you could do it all over again. So make sure your fully immersed in the moment and don’t worry about things you may need to do, that’s what your amazing bridal party and family are there to help with.
